Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Hydrogeologist to join our team. As a Hydrogeologist, you will play a vital role in the assessment, management, and sustainable utilization of groundwater resources. Primary Responsibilities Groundwater Resource Assessment: Conduct hydrogeological investigations to assess the quantity and quality of groundwater resources. Utilize your expertise to determine the feasibility of groundwater development. Well Design and Construction: Oversee the design and construction of monitoring wells, production wells, and other groundwater infrastructure. Ensure compliance with local regulations and best industry practices. Hydrogeological Modeling: Develop and run hydrogeological models to simulate groundwater flow and aquifer behavior, including groundwater-surface water interactions. Analyze model results, including uncertainty analyses, to inform decision-making. Sea Level Rise Impact Analysis: Collaborate with environmental planners and GIS analysts to assess sea level rise vulnerability and risks related to groundwater impacts and flooding. Water Right Support: Perform technical analyses to inform water allocation decisions, evaluate potential conflicts, and assess streamflow depletion. Environmental Impact Analysis: Assess potential environmental impacts of groundwater extraction and propose mitigation strategies. Stay updated on environmental regulations and compliance requirements. Data Collection, Management, and Analysis: Collect field data through methods like pump testing, sampling, and geophysical surveys. Work with GIS analysts to organize, store, and visualize data. Analyze data to understand aquifer characteristics and water quality. Report and Proposal Writing: Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies. Clearly communicate findings and recommendations. Client and Project Management: Serve as the primary contact for clients and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables. Provide technical guidance to staff. Regulatory Compliance: Keep current with local, state, and federal groundwater regulations and ensure project adherence. Field Work: Participate in field activities like groundwater sampling, well installation, and data collection. Travel to project sites as needed. Public Speaking: Prepare and deliver technical results and recommendations to elected officials and the public with clear, simple communication. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred, or equivalent experience in a related field. 10+ years of experience as a hydrogeologist, hydrologist, or geologist, with a proven track record in groundwater resource assessment. Licensed Geologist (LG) and Hydrogeologist (LHG) in Washington State required. Ability to obtain licensure in other states (OR, CA) is desirable. Proficiency in hydrogeological modeling and data visualization software (e.g., MODFLOW, SURFER, GMS). Experience with data tools (e.g., MS Access, SQL, R, Python) and GIS is desirable. Strong understanding of geology, hydrology, groundwater flow principles, and basic geochemistry. Strong project management and client communication skills. Experience with regulatory compliance and permitting processes. Self-motivated, willing to work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and planners.
