About the Opportunity:

Are you a seasoned project leader with a passion for building and a knack for driving complex initiatives to successful completion? We are seeking an exceptional individual to step into a pivotal role, where you will not only lead critical enterprise-wide construction projects but also champion the evolution of our project management methodologies. This is more than just managing tasks; it’s about making a tangible impact on our physical footprint, enhancing operational efficiency, and setting new standards for project delivery across the organization. Your expertise will directly influence the successful execution of high-profile construction endeavors, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This is a remote opportunity with 50% travel to Raleigh and Wilmington, NC. Candidates must reside in North Carolina to be considered. 

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

• Strategic Project Leadership: Lead large, cross-functional teams in the deployment of enterprise-wide construction projects and programs, acting as the primary driver and holding ultimate accountability for project outcomes.

\n* Methodology Development & Deployment: Develop, deploy, train, and provide ongoing support for project management methodologies across the corporation, ensuring best practices are consistently applied.
\n* Scope & Objective Definition: Collaborate closely with stakeholders to define project scope and objectives, ensuring clarity and alignment among all team members and acting as the owner’s representative in construction meetings.
\n* Proactive Project Tracking & Reporting: Prepare and maintain clear, concise status reports and time management reports. Proactively track project progress, identify potential issues before they arise, and offer timely solutions for team approval.
\n* Financial Oversight: Review all applications for payment by contractors, recommending necessary changes before submission for approval, and offer suggestions for cost-effective material and shorter lead-time substitutions.
\n* Stakeholder Engagement: Promote essential customer involvement, ensuring project success is directly tied to customer satisfaction. Communicate project status effectively and obtain approval for significant project updates.
\n* Continuous Improvement: Champion the adoption of project management best practices, adapting approaches to suit diverse project contexts and continuously improving team skills through lessons-learned reviews.
\n* Issue Resolution & Escalation: Possess the knowledge and experience to recognize and articulate problems, bring the right people together for solutions, and ensure issues are properly addressed with appropriate urgency. Establish a culture where escalations are viewed as a positive step toward resolution.
\n* Relationship Building: Serve as a role model in fostering strong working relationships among all project stakeholders, cultivating trust and open communication.
\n* Effective Change Control: Implement robust change control processes to manage scope creep, communications, and quality. Participate in bid processes, reviewing construction documents to minimize change orders.
\n* Empowered Decision-Making: Drive decision-making to the lowest possible level, empowering project members and fostering accountability.
\n* Consensus & Contingency Planning: Routinely build consensus, develop comprehensive contingency plans, and provide well-reasoned recommended solutions.
\n* Documentation & Information Sharing: Maintain detailed records throughout the project lifecycle and ensure information is shared effectively with the team and management. Oversee all project submittals. \n

Required Skills & Experience:

\n

• Bachelor’s Degree.

\n* Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the construction of complex buildings and systems.
\n* Minimum of 5 years of experience managing construction projects of all sizes.
\n* PMP certification is preferred, with detailed knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
\n* Proficiency in MS Office applications, MS Project, and VISIO.
\n* Excellent analytical skills and proven problem-solving ability, including basic root cause analysis.
\n* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.
\n* Proven record of successful construction project administration across a variety of projects.
\n* Ability to develop project plans and manage individual deadlines and goals using software tools.
\n* Deep knowledge of project metrics, including gathering, reporting, trend analysis, and creation.
\n* Ability to identify issues and problems, generate solutions, and choose appropriate alternatives.
\n* Experience managing project scope by assessing requirement changes and conveying impact on budget, time, and risk.
\n* Skilled in managing client expectations, anticipating operational and tactical risks, and tracking them.
\n* Ability to clarify, identify, and track requirements and issues, remove barriers, resolve minor project issues, and escalate as needed.
\n* Self-motivated, quick, assertive, and extremely detail-oriented and organized.
\n* Exceptional time management skills.
\n* Excellent writing and communication skills.
\n* Ability to work effectively and efficiently with little to no supervision, demonstrating strong independence while maintaining a team-oriented approach.
\n* Adaptability in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, comfortable with change and complexity. \n

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

\n

• PMP certification.

\n* Experience in the retail sector.
\n* Familiarity with CAD and CAFM systems and other drawing documentation tools. \n
