Commercial Lines Manager

What You’ll Do

Lead Commercial Lines Operations

• Oversee all aspects of commercial P&C insurance operations: renewals, coverage reviews, quoting, and marketing.
• Ensure exceptional client service, competitive renewals, and high retention rates.

Coach & Develop a High-Performing Team

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of commercial lines account managers.
• Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and succession planning.

Strengthen Carrier & Client Partnerships

• Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, underwriters, and marketing reps.
• Negotiate competitive terms for complex or high-value commercial insurance accounts.
• Act as an escalation point for service or coverage issues.

Drive Strategy & Agency Growth

• Partner with leadership to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for commercial lines growth.
• Support cross-selling and large account placements.
• Contribute to budgeting, planning, and strategic initiatives that advance agency goals.

Ensure Process Excellence & Compliance

• Maintain adherence to agency workflows, E&O best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct quality audits to ensure accuracy, documentation standards, and compliance.
• Identify process improvements and implement solutions that enhance operational efficiency.

Leverage Technology & Data

• Champion the use of digital tools and agency management systems (preferably EPIC) to streamline service delivery.
• Ensure data integrity, reporting accuracy, and adoption of new technologies that enhance client experience.

Collaborate Across Departments

• Partner with personal lines, claims, finance, and sales teams to deliver seamless client service.
• Lead or support cross-functional initiatives including client onboarding and marketing campaigns.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of commercial insurance experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong understanding of commercial P&C insurance, coverages, endorsements, and underwriting.
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate teams.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with carriers and clients alike.
• Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in agency management systems (EPIC preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite .
• Valid P&C license and willingness to travel within Maine.
• Professional designations (CIC, CPCU, ARM) highly valued.
