Our team is expanding, and we are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Proofreader to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity across our written content.
Position Overview
The Remote Proofreader will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and proofreading a wide variety of digital content, including web articles, e-learning modules, product descriptions, scripts, marketing materials, and internal documents. The ideal candidate must have exceptional grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills along with a sharp eye for detail and consistency. This role requires strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Proofread and edit content for grammar, punctuation, spelling, clarity, and tone.
Ensure all materials comply with company style guides, brand voice, and quality standards.
Correct syntax errors and improve sentence structure where needed.
Verify accuracy of facts, formatting, references, and terminology.
Collaborate with writers, editors, project managers, and content creators.
Provide constructive feedback and suggestions for content improvement.
Track revisions and maintain version control of documents.
Ensure consistency in style, layout, tone, and messaging across projects.
Handle multiple assignments simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary content.
Required Qualifications
Must reside in the United States.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (U.S. Citizen or valid U.S. Work Permit).
Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Linguistics, or related field (preferred but not required with equivalent experience).
2+ years of professional proofreading or editing experience.
Advanced knowledge of English grammar and editing principles.
Familiarity with major style guides (AP, Chicago, MLA, or APA).
Excellent written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and proofreading tools.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Strong research and fact-checking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in digital publishing, e-learning, education, or media.
Knowledge of SEO writing and content optimization.
Experience using project management tools like Trello, Asana, or Monday.com.
Familiarity with Grammarly, ProWritingAid, or similar tools.
