Assistant Project Manager / Project Manager I

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the development and management of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior project managers.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, contracts, and permits.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure project compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Support the resolution of project-related issues and conflicts.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and presentations.
Project Manager II

Responsibilities include:

  • Leads the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale complex construction and improvement projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinates and communicates effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
  • Monitors project progress and performance, providing regular updates and reports to senior management.
  • Ensures compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements across all projects.
  • Identifies and mitigates project risks and issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepares and presents project proposals, status reports, and final project documentation.
  • Mentors and supports junior project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Senior Project Manager

Responsibilities include:

  • Resolves complex construction project related issues, disputes, and disagreements.
  • Develops, assigns, and monitors performance of OARs relative to assigned construction projects.
  • Reviews status and overall construction project progress relative to submitted construction schedules.
  • Reviews change orders from all construction projects and assesses their impact on the District.
  • Assists Regional Directors and other Facilities management staff with bid and contract planning.
  • Assesses bid specifications for District need and probability of completion under stated timeline.
  • Reviews status and monitors variances of the construction project database relative to scheduling and cost control reporting.
  • Reviews and verifies submitted applications for payment and performs overall fiscal management of multiple construction projects.
  • Provides functional direction over areas of responsibility including construction project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control.
  • Reviews and monitors overall administration of contracts for the architect and related consultants.
  • Coordinates program activities with other District organizational branches and departments such as the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, Design and A/E Technical Support, Asset Management Branch, Facilities Contract Administration, Inspection Unit, Maintenance and Operations, and local districts.
  • Reviews and takes recommended actions in resolving disputes related to construction projects.
  • Develops and recommends internal policies.
Qualifications

Assistant Project Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in project management or a related role within the civil engineering or construction industry
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Preferred:

  • Experience with infrastructure projects in the education sector
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or EIT (Engineer in Training)

Project Manager II:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in project management within the civil engineering or construction industry
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations

Preferred:

  • Experience with projects in the education sector, airports, public works, city and county projects, and capital improvement initiatives
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PE (Professional Engineer)

Senior Project Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management
  • OR Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) may be substituted for the required education
  • 15+ years of full-time paid professional project/construction management experience
  • 5 years of experience in managing large programs with projects having construction values of more than $30 million (not cumulative)
  • 5 years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects (may include projects outside of California)

Preferred:

  • Design Build experience
  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Bluebeam
  • Experience in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
  • Experience with the Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.

Salary Ranges:

Assistant Project Manager/Project Manager I: $110,000 - $130,000

Project Manager II: $131,000 - $165,000

Senior Project Manager: $166,000 - $200,000

Location: Various Southern CA and San Francisco Bay area

Work Environment: Onsite and Hybrid opportunities
