Position Overview

We are seeking a Shop Operations Manager to lead production operations and ensure seamless execution across fabrication, procurement, design coordination, and delivery. This role oversees the entire project lifecycle, with a focus on safety, quality, and profitability. The right candidate will be a proven leader who can streamline processes, optimize resources, and develop high-performing teams to meet both client and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the operations team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee project delivery from planning through customer acceptance, ensuring compliance with budgets, schedules, and quality standards.

  • Manage supply chain, procurement, fabrication workflows, and design coordination to support timely and efficient project execution.

  • Establish and enforce operational policies, procedures, and best practices across projects and programs.

  • Collaborate with leadership on project accounting, cost tracking, productivity reporting, and forecasting.

  • Review budgets, billings, purchase orders, and subcontractor agreements, ensuring financial accuracy and project profitability.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment and resolve issues quickly.

  • Coordinate with CAD/VDC teams to ensure design integration supports fabrication and project needs.

  • Support resource and production planning, including shop scheduling and capacity management.

  • Lead initiatives to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.

  • Represent operations in strategic planning and negotiate on high-level issues with company leadership.

  • Ensure all projects adhere to safety protocols and meet regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other duties as needed to support organizational goals.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or shop operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams and oversee complex projects from start to finish.

  • Strong financial acumen with experience in project budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems, project management software, and tools such as Viewpoint, Bluebeam, and CAD/VDC.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with a track record of building strong teams.
