Job Title: Museum Business Manager
Location: Hollywood, Florida
Job Type: Full-time (35-40 hours per week Tuesday through Saturday)
Reports To: Executive Director / Museum Director
Salary: $65,000 annually

Job Summary:

The Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts (WMODA) is a small non-profit museum known for its world-class collection of fired arts.  We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Museum Business Manager to oversee the operational, financial and administrative functions. This role is essential in ensuring the sustainability and operational excellence of the institution; supporting its mission to educate, inspire, and engage the community on ceramics and glass as art forms.  The WMODA Business Manager reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with staff in visitor services, collections management, digital systems and facilities maintenance to manage the overall business operations of the institution.  The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business management, budgeting, and organizational leadership, preferably within a nonprofit or cultural institution setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee daily museum operations, including visitor services, facility maintenance, and opening/closing procedures.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement for operational services.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and business process improvements to enhance efficiency and visitor engagement.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and a welcoming visitor experience.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage operational budgets to ensure cost-effective resource use.

Financial Oversight:

  • Oversee financial operations including accounting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board on long-term financial planning and sustainability.
  • Monitor and manage revenue streams such as admissions, memberships, events, grants, and retail sales.
  • Support grant administration and fundraising strategies in coordination with the WMODA Board of Trustees and Executive Director to attain annual revenue goals.

Administrative Oversight:

  • Manage HR functions including hiring, payroll, benefits, and compliance.
  • Supervise administrative and financial staff or contractors.
  • Oversee marketing strategies, event planning, and facility operations, including maintenance, security, and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate across departments to support exhibitions and programs, and serve as liaison with legal, financial, and governmental entities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Arts Administration, Non-Profit Management or a related field (Master’s Preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in business or operations management, preferably in a museum, non-profit, or cultural institution.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with fundraising and grant management is a plus.
  • Knowledge museum operations, programming, human resources, and visitor services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal), organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks Online, ADP Payroll, and the ability to learn new software systems intuitively.
  • Knowledge of State of Florida and Federal non-profit regulations is desirable.

Work Environment:

The Museum Business Manager role involves working on-site in both an office and museum environment.  The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, with occasional events on weekends and Sundays.
