Job Description

This opportunity is for a High School Math Teacher specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) or serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. The position is full-time with a caseload of approximately 55 students spanning four different classes, including High School Algebra and Personal Finance. Candidates with ASL proficiency are preferred; however, those without ASL skills may qualify for part-time roles if they provide their own interpreter.

Responsibilities:

• Teach Math subjects, primarily Algebra and Personal Finance, to high school students
• Adapt instructional methods to accommodate students with diverse learning levels, some reading between 1st-4th grade
• Collaborate with support staff and interpreters to ensure effective communication and inclusion
• Support the academic progress of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, integrating specialized strategies as needed
• Manage classroom environment conducive to learning and student engagement

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience teaching Math at the high school level (Grades 9-12)
• American Sign Language proficiency preferred
• Background in working with Deaf or Hard of Hearing students highly valued
• Experience with special needs students is a plus
• Strong classroom management and communication skills

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Duration: School Year (NSY) Contract
