Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary The Library Assistant supports daily operations of the library by assisting patrons, organizing library materials, and providing clerical support. This position may work up to 28 hours per week, including two evenings during the fall and spring semesters.
Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications - Previous experience in a library
- A minimum of one-year customer service experience or a combination of education and
experience commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of this position
Other Information Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform data entry
- Assist in library programming and events
- Provide basic support for library computers, printers, and other technology resources
- Shelve returned items, conduct regular shelf reading and assist with processing new materials
- Assist with patron overdues, notices, and fines correspondence
- Assist at the Information Hub

2. The physical requirements of this position. Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
3. The visual acuity requirements including color, depth perception, and field vision. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
