The Gallery Assistant will work closely with C24 staff to support exhibitions, fairs and events and ensure that the Gallery’s programs are coordinated and managed smoothly. The assistant will have a strong knowledge of art administration and will play an important role in the Gallery’s programmatic evolution. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting gallery operations, assisting with exhibitions, and engaging with visitors. Experience working in a gallery or arts institution is essential. Fluency in Artlogic, Adobe Creative Suite and Google Suite is critical for this role (these skills will be tested). Requirements BA or equivalent Experience in an art gallery, museum, fairs or related world Computer skills: Artlogic, Adobe Creative Suite and Google Suite Skills: Strong writing skills, art handling and light lifting. Tech knowledge is a plus. Additional languages are a plus. The ideal candidate will also possess the following traits: Excellent interpersonal skills, professional and friendly disposition Ability to interact with visitors and collectors Ability to supervise others Knowledge of the contemporary art world, both domestic and international Understanding of art history and art world operations Ability to work independently on several projects simultaneously Ability to project manage and prioritize Detail oriented Capacity to keep calm under pressure and deadlines General Duties Greet visitors, respond to inquiries and discuss current exhibitions, related artwork and gallery history, and conduct exhibition tours. Track attendance and update daily attendance spreadsheets. Maintain the Gallery website and Artsy. Actively maintain an up to date Gallery calendar. Maintain overall appearance and tidiness of gallery spaces as part of the daily operation, including but not limited to cleaning the door, sweeping floor and spot cleaning wall marks as needed, emptying the humidifier, taking out trash, and running the dishwasher. Be present at after hours events including exhibition opening receptions, artist talks and other events as needed. Administrative Format, maintain and keep up to date: Binder, QR codes, IPad and Folder System, Current Exhibition Folders, Price lists, and Artist CVs & Bios. Print price lists and handouts as needed. Generate Certificate of Authenticity upon sales. Run errands associated with the gallery operations as needed. Direct sales inquiries to senior staff. Generate price lists and Private Views from Artlogic and support with data entry. Assist in light packing and artwork preparation for deliveries. Make local artwork deliveries as needed. Marketing and Online/Social Presence Create custom designed art decks, flyers for shows, and handouts (graphics and visuals). Format and file press articles as needed. Add names to the mailing list weekly (segmented into sub-lists for sales and networking purposes). Liaison with PR and advertising platform contacts and manage listings, including but not limited to:

  • Artsy
  • Artforum
  • Artguide
Maintain the website and update information such as dates, artwork images, artist bios and CV’s. Research Develop full knowledge of represented and exhibited artists’ body of work. Maintain physical artist archive, i.e. catalogs, printed articles, etc. Complete projects as needed to support artist management, promotion, and sales. Exhibitions and Art Fairs Work with staff for exhibition install and de-install. Provide support as needed for art fair applications, including booth mock-ups and data entry. Staff art fair booths as needed.
  • This is a full time position. Schedule flexibility may be required around art fairs, entertaining and events. Some local travel required.
