We seek out innovation across our entire business and pass that knowledge and expertise to our customers.As an Associate Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of product packaging design, costing, sourcing, qualification, commercialization, and production support & troubleshooting of new packaging configurations. Works closely with Technical Operations counterpart to improve efficiencies in packaging operations. Provides functional technical support to Sales, Procurement, Quality and other functional areas. Responsibilities include close cooperation with Technical Operations on optimizations of existing packaging processes, procedures and equipment, hands-on production support and troubleshooting. Essential job functions and duties include, but are not limited to:Partner with internal and external customers to design, source and qualify packaging components, equipment, and operational processes & procedures. Support new product packaging development (components, equipment, procedure, etc.) for the organization Research and stay current on top of industry trends, developments and evolving technologies to identify potential emerging business opportunities, and supply issues. Issue/Review cost quotes on new and revised packaging configurations. Assist Technical Operations, to improve company's OEE (Operations Equipment Efficiency) with a focus on the packaging department. Support all aspects of packaging component and equipment qualification program. Support procurement and operations with identifying, and qualifying planning component, and equipment vendors, as well as third party contactors.Provide technical assistance to internal and external customers, offer training, solutions, etc.Support the preparation to new ERP transition, driving the clean-up of legacy raw material and finished products, ensuring cross-functional alignment and supportCreates effective back-up plans and cross trains department personnelFollow established department SOP's, cGMP regulations, and batch record instructions.Complies with all Company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.Maintains a safe work environment and operates in a safe manner.Perform other related job duties related to the job, as assigned by management.QualificationsMinimum Requirements/Qualifications:Bachelor Degree in Packaging Engineering, Material Science or other relevant field with 2 or more years of work experience; or HS Diploma or equivalent with 6+ years of years of work experience in nutraceutical, food, pharmaceutical or related industries.Any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the level of knowledge, skills, and experience needed to successfully perform the job.Work Environment:Communicates orally with employees, management, peers, customers, and compliance agency personnel, by telephone, e-mail, group or one-on-one settings.Regularly uses a telephone, fax, and computer (e-mail) for communication.Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time during course of work shift.Routinely required to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, and reach, pull, push and tilt object in the performance of job function.Lifting limitations for this position: 25-30 lbs. May have to manipulate heavier containers.Requires use of hands, speech and hearing; agility to operate and frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts.Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus as needed/required.Noise level in this work environment may be low to moderate. Some work areas require hearing protection for an 8-hour work day.Occasionally exposed to dust fumes or airborne particles; required to wear appropriate PPE, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other safety equipment.Periods of odoriferous environment.Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
