Pay Range $20.37/hr - $31.12/hr – this is the range provided by Presbyterian Healthcare Services. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience; discuss with your recruiter for more detail. Overview Presbyterian is seeking a PRN Associate Chaplain . The candidate should be trained in basic spiritual care assessments and interventions. Duties include completing basic spiritual care assessments and delivering care to patients, families, and associates. The chaplain will assist individuals with integrating spiritual and cultural traditions into the plan of care, offer basic support and counseling during crisis and non‑crisis events, and be inclusive of individuals of all faiths and no faith. The chaplain will facilitate communication between individuals and their faith communities and refer complex cases and ethical issues to a staff or clinical chaplain. Ideal Candidate Bachelor’s degree required. The candidate must be involved in a recognized faith group. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. Theological or healthcare care education preferred. Equivalencies for the undergraduate and/or graduate level theological degree would be acceptable for faith traditions that do not offer degrees. Declaration and documentation of equivalencies are required. Must be involved with a recognized faith group. Training in pastoral ministry and/or hospital chaplaincy. Ecclesiastical endorsement preferred. One unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent preferred. Must attend CISM training at least every two years. Responsibilities Assess, provide, and document effective spiritual care to patients, families, and associates, including listening, counseling, and prayer. Support individuals from diverse economic, cultural, racial, and religious backgrounds; advocate for patient needs, values, and goals in the care process. Provide calming support for individuals in crisis, undergoing procedures, facing end‑of‑life decisions, and traumatic events. Proactively participate in interdisciplinary delivery of holistic patient care services through rounding, departmental meetings, and family conferences to promote optimal and realistic goals and outcomes. Respond to patients, families, and associates with ethical decision‑making, values, and discernment. Participate in and lead spiritual care groups. Assist with the implementation of advanced directives. Seek consultation from staff or clinical chaplains if uncertain on how to respond to patient needs. Lead worship and administer sacraments in accordance with personal faith tradition and denominational approval as appropriate. Coordinate spiritual connections with pastors and spiritual care advisors in the community as requested. Participate in department meetings, organizational sponsored programs, and educational sessions as requested. Consistently follow policies, procedures, and approved practices. Incorporate all patient safety protocols and initiatives to optimize a safe patient environment. Maintain patient confidentiality of personal, medical information. Use information technology and various electronic systems to assess, document, and communicate patient care and work. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
